Q: What is Greenwoods Nature Camp ?
 A: Greenwoods Nature Camp is a private guest house situated near the Mudumalai forest. The back boundary of our camp is the forest.
 
Greenwoods Nature Camp provides affordable and quality holiday packages for people who like to be close to wild life and just want to relax close to nature. Greenwoods Nature Camp is not a luxury resort.
 
Q: What are the facilities available in Greenwoods Nature Camp ?
A: Greenwoods Nature Camp located in Mudumalai forest comes with basic facilities like :-
1) Power Backup ( Generator and Solar Lamps)
2) Attached Geycers in all toilets.
3) Food is provided in the camp. We also coordinate activities like Safari, Trekking and campfire.
4) Deluxe Cottage, European Cottage and Family Dome Tent comes with fan and lights.
5) Watch tower at the rear of the camp.
6) Fencing on all sides of camp.
7) Care taker / Cook available in camp 24 X 7.
8) Ample Parking space.
 
Q: Where is Greenwoods Nature Camp located ?
 A: Greenwoods Nature Camp is located in Mudumalai forest and the forest starts from our back boundary. The camp is located in a tribal hamlet and overlooks the Nilgiris mountains in the front. The camp has an area of 30,000 Sq Ft and is surrounded by 320 Sq Kilometers of Mudumalai forest.
 
Peacocks, Deers, wild boars and sometimes elephants frequent the area around the camp.


Our camp is located around 15Kms from Masinagudi which has now become commercial and is populated with Masinagudi resorts , Masinagudi hotels and Masinagudi homestays. 

 
Q: How safe is Greenwoods Nature Camp ?
A: 
Greenwoods has 6 feet high fencing on all 4 sides and 14 feet gate at the entrance. The campus is well lit in the night with solar lamps. Its not advisable to venture out of Greenwoods after dark. Strictly follow the instructions of the caretaker for your own safety. Mudumalai forest is now Mudumalai Tiger reserve forest and home to many wild animals including elephants and tigers. 


Q) What type of accomodation are available in Greenwoods and how many people can be accomodated ?
A:
Greenwoods Nature Camp located in Mudumalai forest and close to Bandipur forest provides excellent holiday packages. There are 4 types of accomodations :- A. Deluxe Cottage. B. Family Cottage C. European Tent Cottage D. Swiss Family tent.
 
i)   Deluxe cottage can accomodate 6 + 2 people.
ii)  Family cottage can accomodate 4 + 1 people.
iii) European tented cottage can accomodate 3 + 1  people. 
iv) Swiss Family dome tent can accomodate 3  people. 
 
18 to 20 people can be accomodated in the camp at a time.  


Q: What is the tariff for room, food (with menu), other activities in Greenwoods ?
A:

Q: What are the check in and check out timings ?
A:
Check in Time - 12:00PM onwards, Check out - 11:30 AM.


Q: Is there any driving restriction in the Mudumalai forest / Bandipur forest?
A:
Yes. The forest check post ( Bandipir and Mudumalai) at the entry and exist remains closed from 9PM to 6AM. Please plan your travel accordingly. The checkpost will not be opened under any circumstances during these timing.
 
After dark, while travelling in your own vehicle/cab refrain from stopping the vehicle and using high beam lights in sanctuary after spotting any wild animals. First of all it is dangerous and secondly forest department authorities could slap a heavy fine and in severe cases could even lead to confiscation of the vehicle. So respect the wild animals while you are in their territory.


Q: Can I make bookings for only accomodation (without food) ?
A:
No. The booking can be made for a basic package of accomodation and food.


Q: Is there any restriction in the stay at Greenwoods Nature Camp?
A:
 Greenwoods Nature Camp strictly adheres to the rules and regulations put forth by the local authorities. In order to avoid any issues, we strictly do not allow mixed group (Males and Females) in friends/non-family groups in the same room occupancy. Such groups would have to take 2 different rooms for accommodation.

All guests coming to Greenwoods Nature Camp would have to submit their valid id proof at the time of check in without fail.


HOLIDAY PACKAGES


Q: Can I make partial payment at the time of booking and pay remaining amount at the camp ?
A:
No. Confirmation would be made only on 100% payment at the time of booking your holiday package . Read the cancellation policy before booking your holiday packages.


Q: Can I make part cancellation after the booking or at the camp ?
A:
No. After a booking is confirmed ,the facility is blocked in your name and does not get released to other guests. So please read the cancellation policy carefully before making the booking of your holiday packages. 


Q: Can we have music or make noise during camp fire or any other activity while in the campus of Greenwoods ?
A:
Strictly No. Greenwoods is surrounded by forest and its important to maintain noise level to minimum. Refer the Do's and Dont's.


Q: Is private jeep Safari owned by Greenwoods Nature Camp ?
A:
 No. Greenwoods Nature Camp only coordinates the private jeep safari with local jeep drivers. The private jeep safari will be taking the guests on peripheral roads of Mudumalai forest only and not inside the core forest areas. Private vehicles are not allowed inside core forest areas and it is a punishable offence. Safari trip will not be merged for drop / commute to other tourist spots. Safari trip would be meant for Safari only b/w 6PM to 8PM.

Mudumalai forest covers over 320 Sq Kms of dense forest and we do not guarantee that wild animals will be spotted in all the safari's.
Entering core forest area is a punishable offence. Kindly do not argue with Jeep driver to enter core forest area. 


MUDUMALAI SAFARI / BANDIPUR SAFARI 


Q: What are the van and elephant safari timings in Mudumalai Safari / Bandipur Safari ?
A:
 Mudumalai Safari is conducted in Tamilnadu and Bandipur Safari is conducted in Karnataka. The distance between the two places is around 15 Kms. For tickets contact the forest reception center. Timings : 6:30AM to 9:00 AM and 3:30PM to 6:00 PM.


Each safari is for 30 minutes and the safari is conducted in a 25 seater van ( Eicher / Swaraj Mazda vans ).
 
Entry of private vehicle inside reserve area is not allowed under any circumstances.
 
Cost - Rs. 200/- per person for  Mudumalai Safari (van).
         - Rs. 400/- per person for  Bandipur Safari (van )
 
Tickets are issued at the forest reception centers of Mudumalai forest and Bandipur forest on first come first served basis. No advance booking.
 
Elephant Safari -  is conducted at Mudumalai forest reception center ( Thepakadu). Timing :- 7:00AM to 8:30AM and 3:30PM to 5:00PM. The tickets need to be booked in Ooty forest department office in advance, however few tickets are sold at the counter on purely first come first served basis.
 
Cost - Rs. 100/- per person for Elephant safari. ( Each safari would be around 30 mins ).


Q: Can I suggest my own menu for food ?
A:
 Greenwoods Nature camp provides wide spread of buffet meals ( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner).  The menu is available in booking section. (Refer the TARIFF section.). The guests at the time of booking the holiday packages can provide specific requirement on food like ( How many people are Non Vegetarians, would they need the food very spicy, etc).
 
Q: Can I get extra coffee / tea at the camp ?
A:
 As part of the holiday packages, you would be getting coffee / tea in the morning and evening. However in case you want extra tea / coffee we will be able to provide the same at a minimal charge.


Q: Can I enter inside the forest area?
A:
Strictly No. Do not enter the Mudumalai forest area by walk or in private vehicles. It is illegal and dangerous.
 
Q) What are the DO's and DONT's in the camp and in the jungle ?

DO's 

  • Treat this natural treasure with respect and love.                            
  • Loud speakers, transistors, tape recorders and all such devices are a major disturbance to wild life.
  • Dress up in subtle colored clothes that blend with the forest. Avoid using bright clothing.
  • Take necessary precautions to guard against forest fire.
  •  Always carry a first aid kit while visiting any wild lands.
  •  Early mornings and evening can be freezing, make sure you carry some woollen along with yourself.
  • Carry medication and emergency supplies as city is very far.
  •  Maintain harmony with the local guide and take care not to hurt the emotions and traditions of the local people.


 DONT's

  • Do not enter the sanctuary. It is  illegal and dangerous.
  • Avoid use of polythene and plastics products in the sanctuary. Strict 'NO' to any kinds of litter.
  • Avoid being in close proximity to the animals
  • Do not disturb the wild animals either by teasing or trying to feed them.
  •  Do not pluck fruits or flowers from the camp. Do not touch or damage the solar lamps in the camp. Any damage would be charged to the guests.
  • Do not get out of the vehicles while traveling in the sanctuary. No firearms and other kinds of weapons.     
  • Do not drive in the sanctuary after sunset and avoid the use of spotlights. 
  • Smoking and consumption of alcohol is not permitted.          
  • Do not move or displace any furnitures in the cottage. Any damage to the furniture or any other material in the camp would be charged to the guests.
  • Any guests involved in verbal or physical abuse to the local people / guide / care taker would be asked to check out from the camp immediately.
